Accessibility Center
The Accessibility Center is designed to make the services and resources of the Phoenix Public Library accessible to people with disabilities. The Center is located on the first floor of the Burton Barr Central Library. The closest parking spaces are at the southwest section of the public parking lot near the Central Avenue entrance. The Accessibility Center can provide you with specific information about locations of bus stops and proximity to the library. Please call 602-261-8690 for specific information about any of the services or resources listed. Some services require an appointment to ensure available staff and equipment. Services Available
- Assistance in the use of the library - please call 602-261-8690 or TTY 602-254-8205 for information.
- Assistive Listening Devices (FM system) for the hard of hearing for use at library events.
- Public TTY with pay phone located on the east side of the second floor.
- Talking Books - Phoenix Public Library in agreement with the Arizona State Braille and Talking Book Library provides information, applications, and replacement equipment for talking books.
- Reference service by mail for those who are not able to come to the library because of a disability. Please call 602-261-8690 to have a Reasonable Accommodation form mailed to you.
Resources
- Books and Periodicals - Large Type, sign language, Print/Braille, audio, Braille, resource directories, large collection of disability information.
- Videos - DVS (Descriptive Video Service) videos for the visually impaired, sign language, disability information.
- Closed caption videos are shelved with the general video collection.
- Sign Language Learning Workstation Computer sponsored by the Praying Monk Chapter of Kiwanis International.
